Brief Bio:

Katie Schmid first started training at K.O. Kung Fu Karate in 2004. Before starting at K.O., she struggled in school and was very unfocused, but her training in martial arts has helped her learn how to set and achieve goals, and has helped her in all aspects of her life. She has competed in local, national, and world competition in forms and weapons, as well as in Lei Tai fighting. Ms. Schmid became an instructor in February of 2011.

In 2015, Ms. Schmid travelled to Argentina to compete at the 5th TWKSF World KuoShu Championship Tournament in forms and weapons, and was granted the opportunity to represent the United States as a part of the Lei Tai (full contact fighting) team. Of course, she jumped at the chance! Miss Schmid returned with a silver medal in Lei Tai and a bronze medal in the Kenpo Weapons division.

In 2018, Ms. Schmid was given the opportunity to represent New Zealand on their National Team at the 6th TWKSF World Championship Tournament in Baltimore, MD, USA. She qualified to compete in five separate events and took first place in Full Contact Short Weapons Free Fighting. Ms. Schmid also came home with silver medals in Full Contact Long Weapons Free Fighting, Kenpo Form and Mass Attack, and fourth place in Lei Tai, as well as first place in the open division for Kenpo Weapons.

In 2022, Ms. Schmid traveled to Rome, Italy as a member of the United States National Kuo Shu Team at the 7th TWKSF World Championship Tournament and took first place in both Long and Short Weapon Full-Contact Free Fighting, as well as third place in Lei Tai fighting.
