Brief Bio:
In 1991, as a New Years resolution, Mr. Saenz began to search for somewhere to begin his martial arts studies. He went through almost every school in Gilroy searching for the right one for him. In June of 1991, a friend told him about KO. He felt very comfortable from the moment he walked through the door. He liked the family oriented environment and decided then and there to train at KO. Mr. Saenz has always trained as student of Master Ozuna. Mr. Saenz was certified as an instructor in 1997 and has been actively teaching since then. He feels that being a positive influence on children is very important, as he sees them as our future, at the school and in everyday life.
As a teacher in martial arts he believes that we can learn from our students. His students have also taught him so much about patience, kindness, understanding and they continually give him a new perspective on life. KO has been a sanctuary for him. He is able to be himself and relax without having his guard up against the daily pressure that occurs outside the doors of KO. His teacher, Master Ozuna, and he are actually only days apart in age, but Mr. Saenz sees him as a father figure because of the wisdom, knowledge and positive attitude he possesses. He is a role model to all who know him and he has been an important influence in Mr. Saenz life.
In 2006 Mr. Saenz competed as a national team member for the USA team in Lei Tai fighting at the 2nd TWKSF World Championships, Singapore. He ended up taking 2nd place in the world. The notification for this event was given last minute and Mr. Saenz had 10 days to lose 18 lbs and prepare for the one of the most challenging and prestigious tournaments in the world. The training was very intense and was one of the hardest things he has ever done mentally and physically. This tournament meant so much to Mr. Saenz. Years before he was amazed an inspired watching his teachers perform. At this tournament he as able to achieve the same dream.
